- Constable Don Miguel Lucas de Iranzo made this palace his residence in 1462.
- Of the original palace only a few rooms, a courtyard and the famous Mudéjar hall survive.
- The palace covered a large area: several chronicles place it between Plaza de la Audiencia, Calle Maestra, Calle Colón and Calle Cerón.
- It was heavily remodelled after the Casino Primitivo bought it in the 19th century. In fact, the façade we see today dates from 1920.
- It now houses the Municipal Culture Board of Jaén City Council.
More about this place…
It stands in the very centre of Jaén, the area the noble and powerful families of the time chose to live in, close to the Cathedral and to other civic institutions. The palace was the residence of Constable Miguel Lucas de Iranzo, after whom it is named. Although it was heavily remodelled in the 19th century after the Casino Primitivo bought it, it still keeps original features, above all its wonderful Mudéjar hall and a lovely courtyard with two arcaded galleries.
