- Near Chircales, in the upper Valdearazo valley, lie the ruins of the old power station.
- The water fell downhill from two intakes: the one at the Castellón dam and the one at the dam on the Corteses stream.
- Harnessing the force of the water, which drove the turbines, was the key to producing electricity.
- The station was run by the Málaga company “Hidroeléctrica del Chorro”, whose name can still be seen on the back wall.
More about this place…
Where the Susana river meets the Corteses stream stands the old power station of Valdepeñas. The setting has a beauty that is hard to match: falling water in one waterfall after another and lush vegetation make a wonderful sight. Today only the ruins of the station and of the houses its workers lived in remain.
