- Although it lies outside its boundaries, the Peña del Águila range can be considered the gateway to the Sierra Mágina Natural Park.
- With its recently improved paths, it offers an easy circular route, though with quite a climb, that rewards us with wonderful views of many parts of the province.
- On the way up we reach the top of El Morrón (1,355 metres) and the Mojón Blanco (1,495 metres). From the latter, very close by, we can see the Almadén and the Aznaitín, standing for Mágina.
- A good way to end the walk is to go down to the Peña del Águila recreation area, which has a viewpoint with spectacular views of the nearby town of Mancha Real.
More about this place…
The Peña del Águila range lies in Mancha Real, at the gateway to the Sierra Mágina Natural Park, a town not far from the provincial capital. Although it does not exceed 1,500 metres, it offers superb views over almost the whole province: from the summit of the Mojón Blanco we can make out nearby Mágina, the Sierra Sur and La Pandera to the south-west, Pegalajar and its Serrezuela to the west, and on clear days even Sierra Nevada.
