- The Cueva del Charco, or Cueva del Aljibe, lies near the hamlet of Huelga Utrera, in the very heart of the Sierra de Segura.
- From the entrance to the hamlet starts a path, short but with spectacular scenery, that in barely half an hour leads to the cave-spring.
- We go into the cave through its long, narrow entrance and notice a spring formed by water filtering through the limestone.
- This small spring, whose water never runs dry, is recorded and documented among the Springs and Fountains of Andalusia.

More about this place…
Huelga Utrera is one of the many hamlets, practically deserted today, in the Sierra de Segura. In this haven of peace, where nature is lush and the beauty of the landscape dazzles the visitor, many treasures await. We can go down to the Segura river, which passes the hamlet through a spectacular canyon. From here we can also set off on the route to the Cueva del Agua of Poyotello or, as we suggest here, visit the Cueva del Charco or Cueva del Aljibe, where the cold water of a spring that never sees the light awaits.
